The Diploma of Aviation (Aviation Management) is a nationally recognised qualification that provides participants with skills and knowledge essential to become an effective manager and leader in the aviation industry.

This aviation-specific program has been structured to meet industry requirements and offers a unique insight into the role of management within the aviation industry. The program offers participants the opportunity to gain leadership and management skills across a number of disciplines including quality and safety, continual improvement, planning and scheduling as well as management and leadership generally.

Aviation management duties include applying technical and non-technical aviation skills and knowledge in support of a wide range of aerodrome and air transport operations, including passenger, charter, cargo, emergency service and government operations.

Individuals working at this level will apply knowledge and skills to demonstrate autonomy, judgement and defined responsibility in known or changing contexts within broad but established parameters.

How to achieve the Diploma of Aviation (Aviation Management)

AVI50119 Diploma of Aviation (Aviation Management) requires 24 units of competency. This is made up of 10 core units plus 14 elective units, all offered by Southpac Aerospace.

To enrol in the Diploma of Aviation (Aviation Management), start any time with any course from the Diploma. The courses, and applicable assessments, can be completed in any order to achieve the required units of competency. Completed prior study? Credit Transfer is available for units that have been previously completed, but are now superseded. To achieve Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) for any course in this Diploma, we require extensive supportive evidence which maps directly to each unit of competency and its requirements.

You can start the Diploma of Aviation (Aviation Management) at any time by enrolling in any available course date for a course that contributes to the Diploma. Or if you wish to begin with the Online (self-paced) courses, you can enrol in these at any time to begin. Courses do not need to be completed in a particular order.

The cost of the Diploma of Aviation (Aviation Management) will vary depending on the courses you choose to make up the 24 units of competency needed to achieve the Diploma.

This depends on the individual pathway you choose based on your study needs or areas of interest, or any previous courses you have attended with Southpac or another training provider, provided the correct units of competency have been achieved.

Payment is not taken as part of the course enrollment process, however an invoice will be issued to you on enrollment, so it is important that you have the necessary approvals to complete a course before enrolling.

Delivery & Assessment

The Diploma of Aviation (Aviation Management) is completed through public courses facilitated in our Live Learning Virtual Classroom, or Face-to-Face (if available), as well as the specified Online Self-Paced units. Examinations are conducted through open-book and both theory and practical exercises. Participants are required to attend all units, workshop-based classes and activities – in full. Any additional activities and modalities are designed to improve the applicability to industry and work.
