Southpac Aerospace launches new Aviation Security courses

Southpac Aerospace offers an Aviation Security Managers Course for airport Security Managers to learn about the context and requirements of the role.

Southpac Aerospace is enhancing the region’s aviation security capabilities with the launch of a range of aviation security courses.

With the addition of internationally-recognised aviation security specialists to our team, Southpac Aerospace is now launching a range of new security courses aimed at airports, airlines, Regulated Air Cargo Agents (RACAs) and regulators, with the goal of enhancing and improving aviation security to meet the region’s evolving security objectives.

The initial public offering of a 5-Day Aviation Security Managers Course is the first of its kind in Australia and New Zealand. This exclusive face-to-face course will take participants through legal frameworks, current threats, and ongoing security issues in the aviation sector. It provides an intensive exploration of the aviation security landscape, addressing legal frameworks, current threats, and operational challenges. The comprehensive program aims to elevate the existing standards of aviation security practices and is based on both national and international best practices.

The course’s curriculum is designed to broaden the managerial perspective beyond traditional focus areas like airport security. It encompasses a holistic view of aviation security, including In-Flight Supplies, and Air Cargo & Mail security. By integrating the latest information, international trends, and direct insights from guest speakers, along with a live facility tour (subject to status and operational needs), the course equips managers with the knowledge to understand the interdependencies among various stakeholders including Regulated Air Cargo Agents (RACAs), Air Carriers, and Airports.

Key areas of focus include Quality Assurance of aviation security, the implementation of the National Civil Aviation Security Programme (NCASP), Transport Security Programme (TSP), contingency planning, incident response, and the latest in security technology and equipment. The role of the Aviation Security (AvSec) Manager is emphasised throughout, underpinning all modules with a strategic and integrated approach to security management.

Furthermore, Southpac Aerospace is introducing two additional specialised courses, offered exclusively through in-house training. These courses are tailored for different levels of security personnel. The first is the Security Management System (SeMS) Manager Course, a three-day intensive designed for managers responsible for the development and maintenance of an effective SeMS. This course focuses on effective management of security components, data analysis, and continuous improvement strategies. The second is the Aviation Security Supervisors Course, specifically aimed at ground security supervisors at airports. This course equips them with the necessary skills to manage airport security operations effectively. Both courses will be offered initially through in-house training by arrangement, aligning with the practical and operational needs of operators.

As the landscape of aviation security continues to evolve, Southpac Aerospace remains committed to providing cutting-edge training and education to safeguard the industry’s security standards.
