Southpac Aerospace to deliver HRDC-claimable training in Malaysia

Southpac Aerospace will deliver aviation training in Malaysia through a partnership with NextGen Pilot

Southpac Aerospace has officially partnered with Malaysian training provider NextGen Pilot to deliver a suite of aviation and leadership programs in Malaysia. This marks a significant step in Southpac's international growth and creates a new channel for delivering high-quality training across Southeast Asia.

Strategic expansion into Southeast Asia

Malaysia was selected as the first location for this initiative due to its role as a growing aviation hub. With its thriving aerospace manufacturing sector and established network of airlines, flight academies, airports, and MROs, the country is well-positioned to benefit from quality-assured training that strengthens safety and performance.

The collaboration also provides access to Malaysia's Human Resource Development Corporation (HRDC) framework. Through HRDC, employers can claim back training costs for eligible programs, making capability development more accessible across sectors.

This partnership has been formally approved by Southpac leadership and is seen as a scalable model for regional growth.

"We've seen strong early interest from aviation organisations in Malaysia," said Gary Saunders, Business Development Manager at Southpac Aerospace. "There's a clear appetite for high-quality, safety-focused training, and this partnership allows us to deliver that in a way that's locally supported and aligned with government priorities."

Local delivery, global standards

The initial rollout focuses on in-person delivery of Southpac's core training programs. All courses will be facilitated by Southpac instructors, with NextGen Pilot managing HRDC submissions, compliance, and local logistics.

The initial courses to be offered include:

  • Human & Organisational Performance (HOP) Fundamentals
  • Leadership & Management for Aviation Professionals
  • Aviation Security (AVSEC)

These programs are designed to support both compliance and long-term organisational improvement. While aviation is the immediate focus, the training is also relevant to industries such as oil and gas, where safety and performance outcomes are critical.

A collaborative model for sustainable growth

Each partner brings complementary strengths to the initiative. With Southpac Aerospace delivering the accredited content, certified facilitators, and client engagement, NextGen Pilot, as a registered HRDC provider, will ensure the programs meet local regulatory requirements and provide on-the-ground support.

Founded by Mugunthan (Mugu) Muniandy, NextGen Pilot is backed by over a decade of aviation training experience and strong relationships across Malaysia's education and aviation sectors. Mugu's background includes work with Aviation Australia, scholarship programs, and student recruitment across the region.

Looking ahead

The strategic partnership represents a scalable delivery model for expanding access to safety-focused, performance-driven training throughout Southeast Asia. With the first programs expected to be delivered in Malaysia in the coming months, further offerings will follow based on demand.

Southpac Aerospace is proud to support professionals and organisations in Malaysia with training that builds capability, strengthens systems, and drives improvement from within.
