Course Overview 

The Manage Disruptive Behaviour and Unlawful Interference with Aviation Course has been developed to assist our participants complete the AVI50119 Diploma of Aviation (Aviation Management).

This Manage Disruptive Behaviour and Unlawful Interference with Aviation Course has been developed by Southpac to assist our participants in completing the AVI50119 Diploma of Aviation (Aviation Management).

This course involves the skills and knowledge required to manage disruptive behaviour and unlawful interference with aviation in compliance with relevant regulatory requirements of the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) and national operating standards.

It includes monitoring passenger behaviour, identifying and resolving disruptive or unlawful interference, taking action to manage unlawful interference, and reporting and documenting unlawful interference with aviation.

This course addresses aviation non-technical skill requirements (mental, social and personal-management abilities) related to aviation security duties of aviation personnel and contributes to safe and effective performance in complex aviation operational environments.

This course is part of the AVI50119 Diploma of Aviation (Aviation Management)

1. Formal Pre-Requisites

There are no formal prerequisites for this course.

2. Digital prerequisites

All students will require access to a computer (with Adobe Reader and Microsoft Word installed) and a reliable Internet connection. You must be comfortable using technology to locate information and research topics – for example, to find a copy of a regulation using Google – and in using the main features and functions of digital tools (such as word processing programs, email and printers) to complete work tasks.

3. LLN prerequisites

All students must possess the following language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) abilities:

  1. Learning ability: You must be comfortable using your experience to reflect on ways that variables impact outcomes, and identify future improvements. You must be self-directing, able to manage your own learning and be able to plan and balance multiple requirements and meet deadlines.
  2. English reading ability: You must be comfortable reading and interpreting a range of documentation relevant to the subject – this includes organisational policies and procedures and assessment instructions.
  3. English writing ability: You will be required to draft and develop various documents using appropriate format and language for the context and the audience. You must be comfortable writing documents such as formal documents, including instructions, information updates and completing report templates.
  4. English speaking ability: You will be required to participate in verbal exchanges using clear language and appropriate tone and syntax to provide relevant information. You must be able to use active listening and questioning to elicit views and opinions of others.

Identify and resolve disruptive behaviour or unlawful interference        

  • Nature of disruptive behaviour or unlawful interference is accurately assessed & incident is resolved using appropriate resolution strategies or referred to appropriate personnel for resolution
  • Procedures are followed to isolate offender/s & to minimise disruption to other passengers
  • Assistance is sought from other staff & external support services as required
  • Follow-up action is implemented in accordance with workplace rules, regulations & guidelines

Take action to manage unlawful interference   

  • Assistance is sought from other staff & external support services as required
  • Nature of offence & consequences of behaviour are clearly communicated to offender in accordance with workplace policies & procedures
  • Offenders are apprehended in accordance with legal & workplace parameters

Report & document unlawful interference        

  • Unlawful interference incidents are reported using the appropriate document format in accordance with workplace policies & procedures
  • Documentation is completed & processed in accordance with regulatory & organisational requirements
