Course Overview
Aircraft maintenance is one of the most high-consequence working environments in aviation. Engineers and technicians perform complex tasks under time pressure while managing interruptions, fatigue, changing conditions, and competing operational priorities. In these environments, even highly skilled professionals can miss cues or misinterpret information. Human Factors training helps maintenance organisations understand these realities and build systems that support safe, reliable performance.
Southpac’s Human Factors for Aviation Maintenance online course provides a practical introduction to the principles of Human Factors and their application in real maintenance operations. Designed specifically for engineers, technicians, and aviation maintenance personnel, this Aviation Maintenance Human Factors training explains how human performance limitations influence decision making, communication, and situational awareness in maintenance environments.
Participants learn how factors such as fatigue, distraction, workload, and workplace culture can affect judgement and performance. The course also explores the non-technical skills that help maintenance teams operate safely and effectively, including communication, teamwork, and error management.
This online course aligns with CASR Part 145 requirements and EASA Part 145 requirements for Human Factors Training, and is suitable as either initial Human Factors training or refresher training, making compliance easier, smarter, and more accessible than ever.
This self-paced, online course covers the following topics:
- Knowledge and Comprehension of Human Factors
- Introduction to Human Factors
- Human Performance and Error
- Human Factors within an Organisation
- Recognising and Managing Human Limits
- Fatigue
- Stress and Workload
- Memory and Sensory Limits
- Alcohol and Other Drugs
- Developing Non-Technical Skills
- Professionalism and Leadership
- Communication and Teamwork
- Situational Awareness and Decision-Making
The eLearning includes activities designed to apply and refine your understanding of human factors and non-technical skills in the maintenance environment.
This course aligns with CASR Part 145 requirements & EASA 145 requirements for Human Factors Training.
If your organisation is CASR Part 145 approved, you are required to provide Human Factors training for your maintenance personnel. This course aligns with the latest regulations, and is suitable as either initial or refresher training, which is required every 2 years.
